Goal

In this tutorial, you will learn how to upload Trip Paths data from INRIX. This data comes as SHP files for the road network, trips CSV files, and trajectories CSV files.

The platform supports multiple types of data sets.

This tutorial covers uploading INRIX Trip Paths data. This tutorial assumes you are in the possession of such data, as the tutorial itself does not provide any sample data sets.

INRIX is one of the most important floating vehicle data providers. The data is fully compatible with the xyzt.ai platform and enables analyzing not only local traffic situations, but also country-wide traffic flows.

Uploading INRIX Trip Paths data as a movement path data set is a multi-step process:

  1. In a first step, you create a Geometry data set for the road network

    • You need to tell the platform how the INRIX SHP files defining the road network (the geometry of your data) are structured and which properties you want to use.

    • You can then upload all SHP files, which the platform will start to process and convert into an optimized multi-scale data structure, suitable for analysis.

  2. In a second step, you create a Movement path data set for the trips data

    • You point the movement path data set to the above geometry data set.

    • You need to tell the platform how the INRIX trajectories and trips CSV files are structured and which properties you want to use. Keep in mind that the platform can work with any data, not just INRIX data.

    • Once the platform has this information, you can start uploading the CSV files and the platform will process them in highly optimized data structures for you to use the data during interactive analysis.

This tutorial will guide you through these steps and will provide configuration templates where possible so that you can get started analyzing your INRIX trip paths data as quickly as possible.

Free trial accounts don’t support uploading your own data

This tutorial uses functionality that is not included in the free trial version of the platform.
