Goal

In this tutorial, you will learn how you can upload your own movement data as .csv files into the xyzt.ai platform so that you can start analyzing it.

The platform supports multiple types of data sets.

This tutorial covers uploading movement data, which is data obtained from tracking moving assets. For example a dataset containing the locations and speeds of cars, or the positions and bearings of vessels.

The platform supports multiple file types, including .csv and .parquet files. In this tutorial we’ll focus on uploading .csv files, but the process is similar for other file types.

Uploading location data as .csv files is a multi-step process:

  1. You need to tell the platform how your .csv files are structured and which columns contain the data you are interested in.

  2. You need to tell the platform about the spatial and temporal characteristics of your data. There is a difference between tracking people in an indoor area versus tracking vessels or airplanes over the whole earth.

  3. Once the platform has that information, you can start uploading the .csv files and the platform will process them.

This tutorial will guide you through these steps using a set of example .csv files, so you can follow along even if you don’t possess any location data yet.

Free trial accounts don’t support uploading your own data

This tutorial uses functionality that is not included in the free trial version of the platform.
